TULSA, OK (AUGUST 19, 2025) – Miller-Motte College (MMC) Tulsa, a network school of Ancora Education, is proud to announce the upcoming launch of its Electrical and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration (HVAC/BR) diploma programs, set to begin in September 2025. These training programs are designed to prepare students for successful careers in the construction and trades industry by combining classroom education with hands-on training.
Enrollment in the programs will be on a rolling basis every five weeks, and students can complete each program in as little as ten months. The first class starts September 8, 2025.
According to a white paper by NCCER and Pearson, Ancora Education partners that craft the training curriculum and credentialing needs for the network schools’ trades programs, “nearly 25% of the construction workforce is more than 55 years old.1” The aging workforce, combined with a lingering negative stigma about the construction industry and barriers to entry for new skilled workers, has created a gap in qualified professionals. A gap Ancora Education and Miller-Motte College are working to fill.
“Ancora Education’s commitment to workforce development, combined with NCCER’s industry expertise, is creating valuable opportunities for students to train for rewarding careers in Tulsa, OK, and beyond,” said Andrew Dunaway, Product Manager for Career-Connected Learning at Pearson. “We are excited to support this initiative by building learning solutions that empower students at Miller-Motte College with the skills and confidence to thrive in careers in the skilled trades. This partnership is a testament to our shared mission of bridging the skills gap and driving economic growth in communities nationwide.”
Miller-Motte’s HVAC/BR classes combine theory with practical application of hands-on job skills. Shop courses include the use of hand and specialty tools and emphasize equipment and shop safety procedures, as well as customer service skills, educating students to tackle real-world challenges upon graduation. Upon program completion, HVAC/BR graduates will have had the opportunity to earn up to five NCCER industry-recognized achievement certificates that never expire. They will also be well-prepared to sit for the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification, a vital credential for HVAC professionals.
The HVAC/BR program topics include:
● Air Conditioning Systems
● Electrical Systems & Controls
● Heating Systems & Heat Pumps
● Refrigeration Systems
● Customer Service & Business Communications
● Safety & OSHA Regulations
Throughout the Electrical program students will receive exposure to skills including measuring voltage using an Ohmmeter, using the National Fire Protection Association’s National Electrical Code (NEC) codebook, Ohm’s law, conduit bending and pipe threading, installing conductors, raceway systems, pull boxes, electric motors, tools for Electricians, lighting fixtures, troubleshooting electrical circuits, transformers and protections, voice, data and video cabling systems.
