Miller-Motte College in Raleigh to Launch Electrical and Plumbing Programs

RALEIGH, NC (January 7, 2026)Ancora Education, a leading workforce training and solutions provider, has announced its Miller-Motte College (MMC) in Raleigh, North Carolina is adding to its skilled trades offerings with the launch of two new programs: Electrical and Plumbing on February 9, 2026.

Miller-Motte’s Electrical program prepares students for an entry-level position in the residential and commercial electrical field. The program, a hybrid between classroom-style education and hands-on learning, is designed to prepare students to be a service technician capable of troubleshooting, servicing and repairing residential and commercial electrical systems, meeting the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) standards.

The program covers:

  • Equipment and shop safety procedures
  • Voltage measurement
  • NEC codebook
  • Conduit bending and pipe threading
  • Conductor installation
  • Raceway systems
  • Pull boxes
  • Electric motors
  • Troubleshooting electrical circuits

The Plumbing program is the third for Ancora Education to debut in the state, following the program’s successful launch at Miller-Motte campuses in Jacksonville and Fayetteville, North Carolina earlier this year.

“With the general shortage of skilled workers in America, the need for plumbing helpers is expected to grow five to six percent nationally over the next decade,” says Molly Carney, President at MMC Raleigh. “Our students will receive gear and tools they will use in the field, but also hands-on training from instructors who work or have worked in the field. Additionally, we maintain partnerships with employers to assist students and graduates with finding steady employment to kick-start their careers.”

MMC’s 10-month plumbing curriculum is also developed by subject matter experts in plumbing for NCCER.

Plumbing coursework includes the following:

  • Basic Craft Skills, Tools, Materials and Method
  • Introduction to Plumbing
  • Piping and Valves
  • Installation and Testing
  • Sizing, Venting and Storm Systems
  • Service Plumbing and Sump Pumps
  • Hydronic and Solar Heating, Plumbing Codes
  • Private Water and Waste/Pool and Hot Tubs and Mobile Homes

“Introducing these programs allows us to offer even more practical training opportunities to our students and more solutions for our community,” said Rogelio Medina, Vice President of Operations at Ancora Education who oversees the Miller-Motte College brand. “We’re proud to continue building programs that align with our local workforce opportunities and give our graduates a competitive edge.”

With this skilled trades category expansion, Miller-Motte and Ancora reaffirm their commitment to helping local students build real-world skills and strengthen North Carolina’s workforce. For details on the Electrical or Plumbing program or to speak with admissions, call: 919-855-2506.
