Miller-Motte College Augusta to Launch Combination Welding and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration Certificate Programs

AUGUSTA, GA (SEPTEMBER 30, 2025)Miller-Motte College (MMC) Augusta is proud to announce the upcoming launch of two new programs: Combination Welding (CW) and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration (HVAC/BR).

The programs join the most recently announced Electrical program, filling out Miller-Motte’s commitment to providing the Augusta community with a trusted training partner for careers in the skilled trades industry. All three programs will begin their inaugural classes October 13, 2025.

“We are honored to be able to launch this new category of training programs,” said Kimala McClendon, President at Miller-Motte College. “The Augusta community, like so many others across the state and country, are looking for skilled tradespeople to address residential and commercial construction and maintenance job openings. We feel strongly that we provide intentional training to help students build rewarding careers with long-term value, making their own lives, and the businesses and communities they serve, better.”

The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), a leading provider of construction education for industry and career and technical education programs, and partner in the development of the three programs at MMC, allows students in all three programs the opportunity to earn up to five NCCER achievement certificates that do not expire. In addition to the NCCER recognition, HVAC/BR graduates will be well-prepared to sit for the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification, a vital credential for HVAC/BR professionals, and CW graduates will be prepared for  welding certification tests meeting the American Welding Society (AWS) standards.

The Combination Welding program is designed to equip the graduate with skills and knowledge in the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and plasma arc cutting (PAC). Graduates of the program may seek entry-level employment as: structural welders, welders helper, a shop welder, and welding repairer.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration graduates can seek entry-level employment as an HVAC technician, HVAC installer, or service technician, capable of troubleshooting, servicing and repairing residential and commercial air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems.

Students can complete each program in as little as 10 months. Enrollment is available on a rolling basis every five weeks and is now open for all programs. Miller-Motte College is a network school of Ancora Education, a leading workforce solutions provider addressing America’s labor gaps through innovative and technology-driven educational programs.
