Miller-Motte College Jacksonville Launches Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration Diploma Program to Meet Industry Demand

JACKSONVILLE, NC (July 23, 2025) Miller-Motte College Jacksonville is proud to announce the upcoming launch of its Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration (HVAC/BR) Certificate Program, set to begin August 4, 2025. As part of Ancora Education—a national leader in workforce-driven education—this program at network school Miller-Motte College is designed to provide students with the technical skills and safety training to enter one of the country’s fastest-growing trades.

“The HVAC/BR program is the perfect addition to round out the skilled trades programs offered here on the Jacksonville campus,” said Amber Borrego, President of MMC Jacksonville. “It demonstrates our continued commitment to training the next generation of tradespeople who will shape the environment we live and work in. We’re not just training technicians; we’re building careers and powering progress.”

The HVAC/BR program combines in-class instruction with practical, hands-on training, preparing graduates to pursue meaningful careers in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Students can complete the program in as little as 10 months, and rolling enrollment every five weeks makes it easy to get started.

Upon graduation, students will be prepared to sit for the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification, an essential credential for professionals working with refrigerants.

“As the demand for skilled HVAC/BR technicians continues to rise nationwide, programs like this are more important than ever,” said Bill Myers, National Program Director at Ancora Education. “We’re proud to deliver a program that not only equips students with valuable technical training, but also helps them build confidence, professionalism, and a career path they can be proud of.”

The HVAC/BR curriculum covers:

● Air Conditioning Systems

● Electrical Systems for HVAC

● Heating Systems & Heat Pumps

● Refrigeration Systems

● Customer Service & Business Communications

● Safety & OSHA Regulations

This certificate is a gateway into a high-demand industry – expecting about 425,000 job openings from 2023 to 2033 – giving students the opportunity to quickly enter the workforce and make an impact in their communities by keeping homes, schools, and businesses running efficiently.
