Course Overview
The Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) is your first step toward getting a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and is needed to drive any Class A or Class B vehicle.
This 100% online, asynchronous course gives you all the info and tools you need to prepare for the CLP Knowledge Tests. You’ll learn which subjects are needed for the class of CDL you will pursue, explore the main topics included in the CLP test, plus learn tips on what else you need for your CDL application
Key Topics Covered Include:
General Knowledge: Information about safe driving habits, transporting cargo, accident procedures, and other core subjects.
- CDL Application Process: A guide to move from your CLP to your Commercial Driver’s License.
- Air Brakes (if required for the vehicle you operate): How air brakes work, how to inspect and maintain air brakes, understanding parts of a single and dual air brake system.
- Combination Vehicles (If you will be operating truck-trailer combination units): Coupling and uncoupling, vehicle inspections, weight distribution, and braking systems.
